Spring Equinox

It's officially Spring here. There are lots of blossoms on our cherry tree which you can hear buzzing with 100's of bees. We have had the kind of weather that makes you think about Summer dresses.

I borrowed this Japanese sewing book from Melissa with intentions of making a little girls apron from it. I decided to take the idea of the apron and turn it into a summer dress for me. I have never been one to follow patterns. This must be why I have a pile of projects that have not worked out, but luckily this one did.

I used a cotton linen blend which was so lovely to sew with because it is so soft and perfectly warn, probably because it used to be cushion covers. I added a pocket that closes with a vintage button. It's not really the style of dress I would usually wear, but I think it will be a good one to throw on after a swim at the beach.
