The backyard is growing into a meadow, the patio is covered with rotting plums and I won't even begin to explain the state that my house is in. Here are just some of the photos from our road trip in the North Island. I got a gift certificate to a little quilting shop for Christmas. I have been playing around with some different ways to make brooches. I have had a pile of felt and a pile of emroidery thread collecting dust in my sewing room. So, I thought I better use it up. Last night, I was playing around with some fabric to make a new apron design. I thought I would work on a reversible kid's apron. I accidentally sewed the waist straps on at an angle and it turned out to work in my favor. The apron doesn't have ties it just has straps that criss cross at the back with a button to secure it. We have a great cemetery in our town. That may sound strange to some people, but I have always enjoyed a visit to a cemetery, especially with a camera. This cemetery is massive. I finished this stripy bias cut with yo yo's apron today. I have enough aprons in my stash so I have decided to give it away. The fabric is 100% cotton but second hand and there are a few marks on it. And the yo yo's have vintage buttons on them. I love Wellington. It's a place in New Zealand I hope to live one day. I had a lot of fun but it was hard work. Walking up and down all the hills in flip flops, carting my 20 kg suitcase everywhere. The festival went really well. Other then the four times my clothes rack blew over. The brooches wouldn't stay put either. Oh those Wellington winds. Next year, I think I'll take the car.

This is Lemi. She always seems to sneak her way into the spare room. I am constantly having to kick her out because I don't want her laying all over my fabrics. I have made the rule that no animals or children will be allowed in this room due to the havoc they could produce. If only it was this easy. Throw some fabric in an "apron maker" and they would come out, warm, fluffy and at the time you had specified.Yummmmm. Fresh bagels. We made these on the weekend.And I have a heap of things to do this week. A pile of aprons, brooch's and headbands to start and finish before I head to Wellington for the Newtown Festival. Today, I made this dress. I found this amazing piece of fabric at the recycle center. It has a mama and baby elephant walking through the jungle. I have a real obsession with elephants at the moment. I made a visit to the library all by myself today. It was so peaceful. No whining or tantrums to deal with. For some reason Isabella has never enjoyed trips to the library, ever since she was 4 weeks old. I got two books on gardening and two books on sewing.
